Devotion: Living Water

We all have needs. We need food, water and exercise to be healthy, we need shelter to keep safe, we need human connection and relationships, and these days many are convinced that we need WiFi!

There is a huge part of our lives that we truly need. We all need Jesus Christ. In John 7:37-38 Jesus says, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

Without Christ, without our living water we are empty. Of course it is good to have all of the other things we need to stay healthy and survive, but with out our Lord Jesus, we will never be fulfilled. We are empty without God. Since Christ is so vital to us, when we feel that something is missing we always turn to him first right?

I know that In my life that is not always true. When I am feeling down or even just bored I tend to turn to my husband or my friends before I realize that what I need is God. Sometimes it can take days or weeks before I realize that what is missing is a strong relationship with my Living Water.

Today my challenge for you is to evaluate your needs? Do you feel like certain areas of your life are lacking? Take a look at your relationship with Christ. If your relationship with God is lacking, other areas of your life will too.

“Heavenly Father, You are my living water and I thank you. I praise you for never failing me and always being more than enough for me! Lord, I ask you that throughout the day you would help me to remember that what I will truly always need is You. In Jesus’s precious name, Amen.”

  1. Such truth! When my relationship with God is lacking every other area in my life suffers too. Thanks for the reminder!
