Devotion: Made New

2 Corinthians 5:16-19

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”

So often we find our past choices and actions coming up to haunt us. Choices that were made days, months, and even years ago can find a way to absorb our hearts with guilt and shame. This is not what Christ wants for us! We are all human, sinners from the day we were born. This is a disturbing reality, but we do not need to be afraid. We are reconsiled through Christ!

Our past has no hold on us! Jesus Christ is our savior. His love wraps around us, he turns our stone hearts to flesh, and we are set free from the chains of sin. We are made new!

My challenge for you today is to ask God to take away any guilt you may be holding on to. Know that that shame is not from the Father, but rather from the enemy. Because our Lord and savior was placed on the cross for our sins we are truly a new creation! We are no longer separated from God! Remember that today.

“Father, my God, please forgive me for my past transgressions and help me to let go of their shamful hold on me. You sent your son to die for my sins, to save me and to reconsile my soul with You. Lord I thank you! Thank you God, for making me a new creation! All of this I pray in your precious name, amen.”
